What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are made up of an implant post (fixture), abutment and prosthetic crown. The post is manufactured from biocompatible titanium and looks like a small, cylindrical screw. The post is implanted into your jawbone and after it fuses, assumes the role of your natural tooth root. The abutment is a small connector piece, with one side screwed into the inside of the implant post and the other side attached to the dental prosthetic. Provisional full arch dental implants are fabricated from acrylic, while permanent prostheses are typically crafted from zirconia. Once dental implants integrate with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration, they provide an incredibly strong and secure support for All-on-4 full arch dental implants.

The Benefits of Dental Implants

With proper treatment, including sound surgical procedures and prosthetics, over 98% of dental implant cases achieve a 10-year success rate. In contrast, bridges, crowns and root canals only have a 10-year success rate in an estimated 80% of cases. Dental implants offer unsurpassed versatility because they can be used to replace one tooth, a row of teeth or a complete arch of missing teeth. Full arch dental implants restore nearly 100% of function, eliminate denture-related discomfort, protect your bone and facial structure and deliver a boost in self-esteem and confidence. Dental implants blend natural beauty with function, making it possible to eat comfortably and smile confidently, while improving your oral health, physical health and overall quality of life.

Do you have all the information you need to make the right decisions about dental implants? Don’t make any of these five common mistakes. Our exclusive checklist will steer you in the right direction.

Three Steps to a New Smile

Phase One: Free Consultation

You can either call and speak to our treatment coordinator or schedule a free dental implant consultation with Dr. Attar. During your visit, he’ll discuss your dental health and challenges and what you hope to achieve with dental implants. Digital X-rays and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) are used to analyze your bone structure, nerve tissue and sinus cavities and determine if you’re a good candidate for full arch dental implants in Redmond, WA and Toledo, OH.

Phase Two: Dental Implant Surgery

General anesthesia by a physician anesthesiologist is included in our All-on-4 procedures. Small holes are drilled in predetermined sites in your jawbone. The posterior (back) posts are tilted 45 degrees towards the rear of your mouth into the anterior maxilla, a region of the jaw with higher bone density. Before you leave our office, we’ll fit you with a temporary set of acrylic teeth that you’ll wear during the healing phase. Any postoperative discomfort can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers. Most of our patients are able to resume normal activities a day or two after surgery. We’ll schedule a follow-up visit to ensure healing is progressing as it should.

Phase Three: Restoration

While healing differs from person to person, it typically take three months or longer for gums to completely heal and the titanium posts to fuse with your jawbone. When you receive your final All-on-4 dental implants zirconia prosthesis, you’ll enjoy a natural-looking and fully functional smile that can last a lifetime with good oral hygiene and professional care.

Making Transformative Dental Implants Affordable

Along with long-lasting, life-changing advantages, dental implants have a higher initial cost than traditional alternatives. The good news is that the All-on-4 protocol provides more affordable dental implants because only four or sometimes six implants are required to support a full-arch, hybrid dental appliance. This can save thousands of dollars in dental treatment costs. In addition to our amazingly competitive, all-inclusive dental implant cost, we offer third-party financing through CareCredit and Lending Club. Our goal is to make receiving the highest quality dental implants from an experienced implant dentist even more affordable!
